The MPs of the parliamentary faction “Democracy at Home” held a meeting today, 12 January 2026, with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Evert Maréchal, TRIBUNA reports.
During the discussions, the parties addressed current issues related to the political and economic situation in the Republic of Moldova, the priorities of the European agenda, and the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Belgium. The faction’s MPs emphasized the importance of strengthening the rule of law, ensuring transparency in the use of public funds, and improving oversight of public procurement as essential elements for reducing corruption and increasing citizens’ trust in state institutions.
The “Democracy at Home” faction expressed appreciation for the support offered by the Kingdom of Belgium to Moldova’s European integration path and for its openness to expanding dialogue and cooperation in areas of common interest, including good governance, institutional reforms, and economic resilience.
At the end of the meeting, the faction’s MPs thanked His Excellency Evert Maréchal for the meeting and constructive dialogue, reaffirming their readiness to continue communication and identify concrete initiatives that will contribute to the modernization of the Republic of Moldova and its alignment with European standards.
