Irina Vlah, President of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” recalled that last week she informed the diplomatic corps accredited in Chișinău, as well as international organizations and observation missions, about the authorities’ attempts to suspend the party’s activity. She stated that she received confirmation that “this unprecedented case remains under close monitoring by the international community.”
“Some observers have already announced that the situation of ‘Heart of Moldova’ will be reflected in their final reports on the September 28 parliamentary elections,” the politician said in a video posted on social media.
Irina Vlah emphasized that the persecution of “Heart of Moldova” is unprecedented in the Republic of Moldova. “We were excluded from the elections without a court decision, and the authorities are trying to impose restrictions on the party’s activity based on unproven accusations. The last Court of Appeal hearing was scheduled for November 14 but was canceled at the last minute due to a judge’s illness. Meanwhile, the legal deadline for examining the case expired on November 19, and the restrictions imposed on the party should have already been lifted. We submitted a request to cancel the restrictive measure, but we have not yet received a response. In my address to international partners, I highlighted the serious consequences these abuses have for democracy and the rule of law,” she stated.
The politician also expressed gratitude to all international structures and representations that have shown interest and continue to monitor the “Heart of Moldova” case.
“Our fight continues. We will keep informing the public in detail — both at home and abroad,” she added.
