The National Bank of Moldova to host a new edition of “The Money Trail” for Moldovan Leu Day

On November 28, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will organize the seventh edition of its financial education event “The Money Trail,” dedicated to Moldovan Leu Day.

The journey begins at the NBM’s Exhibition Hall, where visitors will explore the evolution of the Moldovan leu over its 32-year history, view commemorative and jubilee coins in gold and silver, and discover exhibits illustrating the transformation of the country’s monetary system.

During a hands-on session, children and youth will learn to identify security features of Moldovan banknotes and understand how these features are modernized to prevent counterfeiting.

“The growing public interest in visiting the National Bank shows people want to better understand how the financial system works. Through events like ‘The Money Trail,’ we help shape a generation capable of making responsible decisions,” emphasized NBM Governor Anca Dragu.

The journey continues at one of the licensed banks, where participants will observe real banking operations.

To participate, registration is required by November 19 via [email protected]. Groups of 30–40 people (including chaperones) will be formed, with a minimum age of 10. Visits will be scheduled hourly between 09:00 and 15:00.

Moldova’s national currency was introduced on November 29, 1993.
