Searches Conducted in the Capital as Part of a Major Criminal Case on Suspected Illegal Financing of Political Parties

The National Anticorruption Center (NAC) and the Prosecutor’s Office of Chișinău Municipality have announced the execution of multiple searches in the capital, as part of a major criminal case involving suspicions of illegal financing of political parties under aggravated circumstances. According to preliminary data, the investigation targets the actions of a group of individuals suspected of being involved in a coordinated criminal scheme in the lead-up to the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025. Among those under scrutiny are decision-makers affiliated with political formations, as well as members and supporters who allegedly contributed to the unlawful channeling of funds to political parties, TRIBUNA reports.

Following the searches, authorities seized financial assets in various currencies totaling over 20 million lei, electronic data storage devices, draft documents, and other relevant evidence supporting the reasonable suspicion of illegal financing. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as it progresses.

In this context, the NAC reminds citizens of two active phone lines available for reporting cases of electoral bribery, illegal financing of political parties, attempts to unlawfully influence voters, or other suspicious actions related to the electoral process:

    2. National Anticorruption Line – 0800 55555, toll-free within the Republic of Moldova.

According to the law, every person is presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
