The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) condemns the incident that occurred yesterday (21.02.19) at the joint control station in Varniţa, Anenii Noi district, “where two electoral officials – the president and the secretary of the electoral bureau of the polling station no. 48/10 of the Anenii Noi district were detained by the forces of the unconstitutional regime on the left bank of the Dniestre, withdrawing their calculation technique provided by the CEC for the organization of the parliamentary elections”.
As TRIBUNA informs, according to a press release, the Commission expresses its concern and qualifies this action as a challenge and an attempt to destabilize the situation before the election day, including interference in the informational systems helded by the CEC.
“In this context, the Commission decided to withdraw these laptops from the circuit and to replace the calculation technique offered to the polling station electoral bureau no.48 / 10 for the conduct of the election campaigns on the election day. We appeal to the international community and observer missions accredited to monitor the elections of February 24, to the police forces and the Unified Control Commission to take an attitude towards the detention of the two electoral officials in order to avoid repeating similar situations that endanger the security of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the conduct of the electoral process”.
