The US appreciated the progress Moldova had made on the Transnistrian conflict settlement. Texas Congressman William Ballard Hurd made the statement at a meeting with leader of the ruling coalition Vlad Plahotniuc.

The meeting was held on Wednesday at the PDM headquarters. Plahotniuc thanked the American congressman for the constant support and for mentioning our country as an example in the talks on the fight against propaganda of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Plahotniuc presented the results of government over the last two years and talked about the measures taken to strengthen institutions and fight corruption, as well as the geopolitical situation in the Eastern Europe in the coalition’s vision.

For his part, Hurd appreciated Moldova’s efforts on Western approach and internal reforms on Moldova’s security, given that it is a member of two specialized committees of the House of Representatives – Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and Homeland Security Committee. He said Russia is a concern for the United States, also voicing regret that the international agreements on the Transnistrian region were not respected by Russia.

At the same time, he noted he appreciated progress Moldova had made on the Transnistrian conflict settlement.

At the end, Plahotniuc said that Moldova has a growing business environment with real opportunities for investors, and the US investments are welcome in our country.
