Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met Ambassador of US to Moldova Derek J. Hogan. Officials discussed the development of bilateral relations in various areas of common interest, TRIBUNA reports.
Pavel Filip mentioned that the Republic of Moldova pays special attention to bilateral cooperation, and the USA is a strategic partner of our country. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the constant support the US has for implementing democratic and structural reforms and for strengthening institutional capacity.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the post-electoral situation in the Republic of Moldova, noting that the parties that have access to Parliament have to show political maturity and to work together to train the Government as transparently as possible, which should be in the primary interest of the citizens.
Pavel Filip and Derek J. Hogan also discussed the continuation of the program with the IMF, the implementation of the local public administration reform and the expansion of the trade-economic cooperation between the parties. In April, a mission of American businessmen, interested in investing especially in the fields of industry, agriculture, information technology and communications and tourism, will arrive in Chisinau. At the same time, at the end of April, the Republic of Moldova will be visited by a delegation of the Congress of United States.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip stressed the importance of capitalizing on the strategic dialogue between Moldova and the US, stating that the Republic of Moldova still counts on the support of US and assistance to ensure the sustainable development of the country on the basis of Western values.
