Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has been awarded the Medal of Honour of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly (BSEC PA). The ceremony took place at the summit of the parliament speakers of the BSEC member states in Istanbul today. The event was organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of BSEC PA, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The distinction, handed over by BSEC PA, Asaf Hajiyev, represents the highest form of encouraging citizens from BSEC member states and is provided to speakers of the parliaments of the BSEC member states for outstanding contribution to the Assembly’s activities.
At the Istanbul Summit, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had meetings with President of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Tsveta Karayancheva, President of the Romanian Senate Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. The topic on the work of the trilateral assembly Moldova – Ukraine – Georgia was discussed at the meeting with the speaker of the Georgian parliament.
In 2018, BSEC PA marks the 25th anniversary of its foundation. BSEC PA was founded in Istanbul in 1993, by representatives of nine countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. BSEC PA represents an important platform for strengthening the regional cooperation and turning to good account the economic potential between the member states.
