Traian Basescu cancelled his visit to Moldova
The official visit of President of Romania Traian Basescu to Moldova scheduled on February 1 was cancelled and will be postponed.
The visit to Moldova was cancelled because of the poor health of President Nicolae Timofti, TRIBUNA reports with reference to a press release of the Moldovan Presidency.
„President Timofti suffered a fit of cholecystitis two days ago and was taken to hospital for medical tests. The Ambassador of Romania to Chisinau, his Excellency Mr. Marius Lazurca, was called to the Presidency to be informed about this situation”, reads the press release.
According to the press release President Nicolae Timofti expresses his thanks for understanding to the Romanian side and all the Moldovan institutions and citizens that could be affected by potential inconveniences caused by the cancellation of the visit of President Traian Basescu.
